Default Determining hosting configurations for eCommerce website

I will be starting an eCommerce website soon. I would like to know how do I determine the bandwidth, web space and other hosting configurations required for my website. It would be great of you could give me some tips for determining the hosting requirements. This will help me in getting into an appropriate eCommerce hosting plan.

The choice of web server platforms should be influenced by the use of application and scripts to which you intend to put it. The required bandwidth, web space and other hosting configurations for the website can only be suggested once your website is ready. I would recommend you to have a private SSL Certificate to be installed on your website since financial transactions will take place online on your online business.

Hello Christina,

Well, you will be able to determine your Web Space requirement by the amount items that you would be hosting on your e-commerce website. Also, bandwidth will depend on the number of hits you are expecting.

However if you are not able to figure it out, in that case, you can very well start with our cPanel Shared Hosting Package. As and when your requirement for resources increases, you can upgrade your plan by paying the price between the two.

Its really hard to determine the bandwidth usage before you make your website live on Internet. Space can be assumed depending upon how many products will be listed in your E-commerce shop. You can start with any of our Shared package and upgrade it as your E-commerce shop grows. You can monitor your space and bandwidth usage by logging into your control panel. You will see your space and bandwidth stats on the main window once you login into your control panel. We have a monitoring system for our Shared server which continuously monitors the space and bandwidth usage of different clients. We will send you a notification email once your resources are about to cross 80% mark then what was allocated, so that you can upgrade onto a higher package.

Thanks for the information. I think I will start with a shared hosting plan first and then as the online transactions gear up, I might upgrade to some other web hosting type.
