Gone for the beginner Cloud option on Linux to start off with and see how we go. Perhaps there will be reason to upgrade in the future.

Just waiting for the details to come through so I can start uploading.

..I can't for the life of me get the ftp path setup though... every time I try to login, I have a blank folder with nowhere to go... not show public_html, cgi_bin ?

And I've set up plenty of ftps, but I must be missing something obvious?

The webspace and domain name are up and running already which is very fast...

I did try the Live Help, but the pop up window always reports an 'unable to connect' error.

Not to sure why are you getting such error. Our live chat application is working fine without any issue. Well, i am getting your issue rectified with the help our tech support engineer.

We have successfully created a test FTP account whukadmin@yourdomianname and have uploaded a jpg file (WHUK_forum.jpg) under you public_html folder. Are you still facing any issue creating and using FTP ?

I've sorted the ftp issue, but now the website has crawled to a halt with a "The connection has timed out" error. 100% uptime guarantee on that service!

To give you an idea, in the years we've been running our forum, that has never happened before. I will try to get to you Live Help again, but this is quite frustrating after getting everything else sorted.

Incidentally, the site is up and down like a yoyo at the moment, currently down, and I've had no response from the support ticket sent a few minutes after my last post.

I've also tried the live help, and get no connection for that.

The connection timeout error says the communication between you & the server isnt being established. This is mainly due to the server's firewall blocking the data transfer on one or all ports. The other case is when the server is completely down..

We upgraded the resources of the server such that it'd perform even better now.

It is still down.

I thought the point of these types of hosting were that you don't get any downtime. That's the guarantee on the sales spiel.

Hi there.. We are in the process of installing Cloud Linux on the server. This will restrict resources to the users consuming high CPU/memory.

Your understanding and patience is much appreciated.

Will post further updates once CloudLinux is installed.
