Web hosting for a new online store

I am new to the web hosting industry. I will be starting an online store shortly. I studied various types of hosting; however I think the cloud web hosting platform is a good one. Can someone please guide me making the suitable choice for hosting my website?

It would be hard for me to specify the exact configurations; all that I can say is that I m looking for a bandwidth of around 50 GB monthly. I am not really looking forward to make a huge investment though. I also want to understand the web hosting infrastructure along with managing my hosting activities.
