Default Shared Hosting Question (Very Basic)

Hi,

some very basic questions regarding shared hosting... sorry!

Ive started creating basic websites for friends (initially), and eventually would like to turn this into a small business.

The size of the sites will be minimal (in my opinion), I have one on-line now , and I am currently designing a couple more sites, nothing fancy, just HTML, CSS and a bit of JQuery.

With your shared hosting plan, I take it I get my site, then add my client sites as Addons, is the cost implications to this just the domain name (or transfer fee if moving over an existing site like the link above).

Are Addon sites treated/seen as separate sites or are they linked to my site (from search engines perspective)?

How do Addon sites access their email, do they go my main site or do they have direct access to their space/email?

Using that as an example of size of site, how many sites (approx) can be added to my hosting plan?

I’ve read on various posts on your forum about peoples sites being suspended for some reason or another, are these abuses intentional, if not, how do I know if I’m breaking the rules, if all I’m doing is adding small sites?

The link above has been online for about a month, and it still has not been indexed by Google (all code passed etc, got site map, webmasters tools etc), don’t know if its something I’ve done or the current host, has anyone experienced this sort of problem with WHUK?

From the type of sites i will be doing, what is the difference between cPanel and Windows hosting?

If in time I need to upgrade to a different hosting option is this a simple procedure or not?

PS. amazed at the wealth of knowledge on this forum, I’ve got a lot to learn.

Regards
ChrisK

We do have domain transfer charges depending upon the domain name which you wish to transfer. Addon domains will be different sites and all of those will be kept separately. But all your websites will share a common IP address.

Your addon sites will have a direct access to their emails/space. If you opt for our Linux based hosting plan, than there is no limit on the domains that can be hosted in a single hosting plan.

Abuse complaints can be from any part of the world. If we receive any abuse complaint regarding your website, we will notify you and you will have to remove that content from your server asap.

Windows Hosting is a hosting service based on Windows OS and cPanel Hosting is a hosting service which is based on Linux OS. But as per your hosting requirements, I would recommend you to opt for our cPanel Hosting plans. You can upgrade your hosting plan at any point of time.

Feel Free to post if you have some more queires!!

Hi Ross,

Thanks for responding to my questions, I was looking at ipage or Hostpapa, but Im liking the support offered by WHUK.

Regarding Abuse of services, I was referring to a few threads I read on this forum where people have had their sites blocked/suspended? due to excessive scripts running? not dodgy content on the site.

Will sign up shortly for a Cpanel hosting plan

All the best

Hello Chris

qtvr panoramic is not resource intensive. Its fine if you use it in our cPanel Shared plans.
