You can order number of dedicated IPs even on our shared hosting plans just make sure you need to provide us proper IP usage justification for each extra IP you order to our billing staff.

So does that mean that you get a static IP by defualt, if you do not order the dedicated IP? Or am I missing something here?

You get a Shared IP with our Shared hosting package. If you need a Dedicated IP, you will have to contact our Billing department and they will get that added to your hosting account. The cost of a Dedicated IP will will be £20/year.

There are advantages to having a Dedicated IP, the main one i think is having the ability to add your own SSL certificate as this is not possible on a shared IP. This is very useful if you intend to sell anything online.

Besides SSL and anonymous FTP, I do not see any benefit of using a dedicated IP. Most websites are hosted with shared IP addresses on a shared hosting web server. But people still prefer to use a dedicated IP for their website. may be because it shows the primary site on the dedicated IP as well in the browser

A dedicated IP is going to be one of the old technique to enhance your seo stuff as well. Another benefit of using a Dedicated IP is from SEO point of view. A Dedicated IP address will definitely enhance your ranking than having a Shared IP .

With dedicated IP you can view your website in the browser directly. I think that is one of the reason people prefer having a unique IP for their site. Of course you need it when using a SSL. These days it is not easy to get dedicated IP for a domain name. You have to provide complete justification for that.

Some Shared Web Hosting has only one cPanel. So you can have only one dedicated IP. If you choose the dedicated IP, all of your addon and subdomains will use the dedicated IP. Emails will still use the shared IP
