cPanel Hosting - cancellation terms & external DNS
Hi,
I'm considering trying out the cPanel hosting, and just want to check what the minimum term is, and what my cancellation rights are in my initial 30 days.
I couldn't spot the minimum term in www.webhosting.uk.com / web-hosting-uk-terms.php, and this says that cPanel is non-refundable, although the blurb for cPanel on the main page says 30-day MoneyBack.
That said, I'm not expecting any problems, it's just good to know what I'm getting into before I sign up.
On a side note, do I need to set up a domain name at the start, and can I use domains registered elsewhere with cPanel? I can set the DNS records to point at whatever, but this needs to be tied into the (presumably apache) config.
Thanks,
Phil
P.S. Sorry about the mangling of that link, but I'm not allowed to post URLs until I've done 5 posts!

There is no minimum time limit on our cPanel hosting packages and you will be able to cancel your cPanel hosting package at any point of time.

Yes, you need to setup a domain name when you signup for a cPanel hosting package. However, it is not necessary to register a domain name with us and you can use the domain name which is registered with another domain name registrar.
For this purpose, you need select the 3rd option i.e. "I will update my nameservers on an existing domain Or I will register a new domain." while signing up for the cPanel hosting package.
After this, you will only have to update the nameservers of your domain by contacting your domain name registrar and once the nameservers propagate, the domain will resolve from our server
Please feel free to contact the Sales department if you need any assistance while signing up for the cPanel hosting package.
Feel free to post if you have any further questions.

Hi Phil,
We accept yearly and biennially payments for all the cPanel hosting plan. 30 day money back guarantee is included with the package. If our services did not exceed your expectations, you can request to receive a full refund within the first 30-days. After this period, even if you have prepaid for 24 months, you can still request a refund for unused portion of your contract.
* We are offering a free domain for life time with all our shared web hosting plans. Don't miss this opportunity.

I'm in the same situation and there is something that is still not clear to me.
I don't intend to sign up for a dedicated IP, so a presume that I will have an IP dynnamically allocated. This means that under some circumstances, e.g. a reboot of the server, the IP can change. I would then need to contact my domain name registrar to update their record.
At the moment I self-host and I have an open-source C programme, updatedd, and an open-source Perl script, updatedd-wrapper, that periodically updates them, so my domain name always resolves correctly to my IP. How would I do that in cPanel?
Thanks
Giulio

If you do not signup for a dedicated IP address and choose our cPanel hosting plans, your domain will be hosted on a shared IP address. However, the IP's of the server won't change even if the server is rebooted and hence there is no nee to contact your domain name registrar to update their record again and again and this should be done only once when you signup for the hosting plan.

Do you wish to schedule some tasks for your C programme on the cPanel hosting plan ?
If yes, you can setup cron jobs on the cPanel hosting plan using cPanel control panel.
Please feel free to post if you have any further questions

 Giulio !
Our shared servers are not rebooted often as we do offer you 99.95% uptime guarantee, they are rebooted forcefully only if there's any extreme cause like harddrive failure or server crash which rarely happens.
You would be getting shared IP ( on shared hosting package ) which doesn't get changed even if server is rebooted for some reason.
Shared server IP is fixed hence you just have to update it once and your domain name would resolve correctly.
Please let us know if you still have any more questions or doubts.
