Do I need a domain to use host
Hi,
I am just a personal user, and have a couple of html websites on free siotes like virgin but do not have a domain name registered, ie, lhotse.co.uk
Do I need to register a domain name, or can I use web hosting to create the drupal version websites of my html sites which are stored here at web hosting. I have 3 html sites that I want to convert to 3 drupal sites.
2 of them have domain names, and I will tell those people to re-direct to the webhost database sites when I have done them.
If I do not have a domain name, what would the example hosting address would I give people to they can see my new database site?
I hope this quesiton makes sense.

Hi Krystyna,
You can convert all your HTML websites to Drupal website. For each website you will need a domain name and to host those drupal websites you will need a hosting package. We provide hosting as well as domain name registration services. You can purchase the hosting package and domain name from us. You can consider one of our cPanel hosting plan to host all your Drupal websites. You can view the cPanel hosting plans and pricing details at cPanel Hosting UK | Shared Linux PHP MySQL cPanel Hosting
Let me know if you have any more questions.

Well, in that case you will be able to access the site through a temporary url i.e. http://serveripaddress/~username

.info domain names are perfect for personal use as they are very very cheap to purchase, i have a couple for personal websites. For professional side of things a .com or .co.uk would look and sound far more professional though.

Well, you can register .info domains for personal sites, however, it is hardly seen that SE index any .info site. Atleast, I have not seen any .info domain being indexed by Google.

Matt, where you've read about search engines not indexing .info site ? Search engine bots don't check the tlds and decided whether to crawl the website or not. Google crawl and index every tlds.
Check webhosting.info, its indexed in Google and also has a PR7.

Not sure why .info domains don’t rank well in SERP but i think even .info domains can get better ranking if are optimized properly.
Well, we can get huge number of .info domains which are already indexed by Google just use following search query “ site: hosting .info” in search bar.

Well, I haven't read it anywhere. It is just a personal experience that I shared. I said "Atleast, I have not seen any .info domain being indexed by Google."
If I search a keyword in Google, it hardly shows any website with .info tld

I think that Matt personally does not like .info domains indexed by Google, hence he is ignoring the fact that they are indeed indexed in Google search engine. Anyways Matt, if you haven't come across that then its fine with all of us. Hope you will find some of those .info domains indexed in Google in future.

Matt, you can re-frame your wording like “ Atleast, I have not seen any .info domain being TOP RANKED by Google." which may be true.

@Harry: Yes, I haven't seen any .info domain being TOP RANKED by Google
@Rodney: I like .info domains. They are so cheap to start a personal blog or website

Domain age has some effect on the rankings However, I don't think the rankings and the PR of a domain depends on the domain name TLD
It basically depends on the content and backlinks to the site and hence you shouldn't think about the domain TLD being more important than content and backlinks to the site
