Data transfer from Plesk to DotNet Panel
While browsing through your plans, I found that Windows Shared plan no more has Plesk Control panel. It seems like the control panel has been changed to DotNet Panel. I wonder if I was to transfer a website that uses Plesk control panel to Web Hosting UK, how could the data transfer be done?
Thanks, Samuel

Usually, one needs to take a back-up of the web data through Plesk in .psa format. But, when migrating from Plesk control panel to DNP, the format is entirely different, therefore one has to manually migrate the data. The E-mails can be copied to the local computer and then uploaded manually.
Can someone from Web Hosting UK correct me if I am wrong?

Migration will indeed require a manual process due to the fact that DNP does not have any utility to migrate account from Plesk to DNP. Till today we are doing every thing manually however if there are too many domains (over 15) or database then we require some help from our client. This is because DNP control panel has few password and username policies which makes it difficult for us to record them all and send it to our client, so it is better that the client create all the require domains and databases and then we can migrate the data from the Plesk servers.
Every one needs to make a note that:
1. We do not create email accounts nor do we transfer any emails as Mail server on both the control panel is different. So you may loose all your emails and their account settings while migrating from Plesk to DNP.
2. You will need to edit your scripts and change the entire connection string, as I mention earlier DNP has few user and password policies for security reasons and these connection string settings cannot be same as that on Plesk and Database servers are not local to web server hence the IP of database servers will also change. Information about the IPs of different server can be found in the Welcome email.
3. The mailing forms on the website will need to be configured to use a different mail server (and not localhost) and also use "User Authentication Method" to send emails as relying for webserver will not be allowed.
We might add few more points in the list as we go on with the migration of accounts. But I will also take this opportunity to mention that DNP is far more comprehensive and secure than Plesk.

I'd like to add personally that I prefer DNP - it's far clearer than Plesk and quite a lot cleaner in its appearance

IMO DNP is a feature rich easy to use control panel. In comparison with Plesk, DNP can ease your tasks of web hosting account management. I think WHUK too offers DNP with their Windows hosting packages. Check it with their sales team to know more about the control panel.
