Yes, Fantastico is widely used webhosting tool using which you can easily install most supported applications, though few expert webmaster prefer to install applications manually so that if anything goes wrong they know where to look-in for

Some of the webmasters believe that automated tools are not reliable enough and hence they do installations and setups manually No doubt, there are some of the drawbacks in automated tools, however, tools like Fantastico reduce the time required for installation of difficult scripts etc which is certainly good

Also, as WHUK provides 24x7 assistance for technical problems, it is always possible to contact the technical support department at any point of time if you face any problem with automated installation

I must admit i only use fantastico to have a quick look at some of the sofware. For instance i installed Wordpress and nucleus just to have a look and compare. I would then delete them.

If there is something specific I want to install, then I always manually install. I think this is because going back a few years Fantastico gave you an older version and sometimes it was a nightmare to update, it was much simpler to manually install. However I realise that this is no longer a problem.

Fantastico had a problem in the early stages of it's launch The installations done weren't perfect and the updates were certainly a problem as the updated version wasn't available

However, the problem has been solved now and now the installation done does not create a problem and the latest version can be installed with a few clicks
