Default Hosting Multiple domains

Hi. Prespective new customer here, with just a few questions which I'll post separately.

Q: Web site Web Hosting info says "Multiple domains"

There are I believe two interptations of this but I can't see any clarification.

Can someone clarify please?

Thanks

Dave

If it is stated that you will be able to host Multiple Domains with a web hosting package then it means that you can host more than 1 or say, a number of Domain names with/under the hosting package. If it is mentioned that you will be able to host 10 domains with the hosting package then you will be able to host only 10 domains with/under the respective hosting package. You should select the web hosting package according to the domains you have and if possible, select a web hosting package with unlimited domains so that you can host more domains in future without upgrading your package.

Default Domains cont'd...

Hi,

I'm referring to Web Hosting UK's offering in the Windows Web Hosting space. Part of the hosting packages comparison table says "Domains Allowed = 10" (Starter Package)

Does that mean then that for a single outlay of 29.99 I can host up to 10 entirely separate web sites that have no visibale interaction between them e.g. sausage.com, wheel.com, dollarbill.com etc...

Or does it mean that there is only one domain for the 29.99, but the package can support the other interpretation of multiple domains i.e. I can direct in say egg.com, bacon.com, sausage.com into the single allowed domain of breakfast.com and any of the directed in domains will see the same breakfast.com web content? As far as I can see there is no statement here as to exactly which is meant.

To put it another way. Say I want to build 4 completely separate web sites for 4 completely separate customers. Is that 29.99 x 1 p.a. or 29.99 x 4 p.a.?

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,

Yes, using our Windows Hosting (Starter Package) you can host 10 different domains using a single hosting package. All domains would be hosted independently and can be browsed using their domain name. For eg...you can host sausage.com, wheel.com, dollarbill.com etc... under same hosting package and all domains would have their own identity. Using Starter package you can host maximum of 10 domains and hosting cost for this account would be £29.99/year

Default Unlimited and Multiple

Hello Dave,

You have been here with good question. Terms unlimited domains and multiple domains both are widely used and very good for marketing purpose. If you read ever multiple domain hosting then be clear with hosting provide for total number of domains as multiple word insist minimum=2 but maximum value is not defined. So you get convinced with multiple domains but you do not know what is maximum. And if you read carefully hosting package features then you will find this maximum.

If you read unlimited then of-course it says no limit. You can host domains as much as you need.

Is this good to read and understand?

Cheers.....

Well, if it is mentioned that you will be able to host Unlimited domains with the hosting package, you would be able to host as many domains as possible within the Resources i.e. Disk space, bandwidth etc. provided with the hosting package.

For example, if you get a hosting package with 1 GB disk space and you are able to accommodate 7 of your domains in 1 GB disk space, you will be able to host 7 domains with the hosting package. If you need to host more domains, you need to upgrade your hosting package to have more disk space so that you can host more domains.

Hope this clears the doubts

Though a hosting provider states that you can host multiple websites,I am sure they definitely means, you can host any number of websites as far as you are not exceeding the allotted resources. Now,it depends on the size of the website, which would decide the number of sites you can host.

Well as far as Multiple domain Hosting is considered it is like this, a person can host multiple Sub-domains or Add-on domains on the same hosting package. This is possible even in case of shared hosting. But if one wishes to host different websites with separate control panel interface for each of them, he will need a reseller plan, a VPS or a dedicated server. If he doesn't want the same IP address to be shared among all the hosted websites, he can also
get a Dedicated IP by paying some extra charge

Regards,
Sierra

The reason for this is the fact that shared hosting packages are provided with a single control panel and all the domains are to be managed from the same control panel. Also, if you consider a shared hosting package, you can access the control panel from your primary domain only. This is not the case with a Reseller, VPS, Semi-dedicated servers or Dedicated Servers as you can get a separate control panel for each domain

This is the reason it is possible to resell hosting with Reseller hosting packages, VPS's and Dedicated servers. It is possible to provide a separate control panel to each customer if you consider a Reseller hosting packages, VPS's and Dedicated servers and you will be able to manage and monitor the accounts through the master control panel. You will get only one control panel with each shared hosting package and hence it is not possible for you to resell hosting services with a shared hosting package.

Hello Dave,

I believe you are in this hosting stuffs. Well it is good you asked before you step wrong like others always do.

Multi or unlimited hosting is good only for those who want hosting more than one domains. All domains / website should be own and operated for single owner. This will overcome domain and management time wasting.

If you want to host domains for you and your friends or you want to reseller domain hosting than, here is important tips.

1. Make sure of Disk Space usage
2. Bandwidth usage
3. free and additional IP
4. Managed Control panel Access ; Be specific with provider for CP access for each domains or only one CP access for all domains.
5. If you want to resell hosting than make sure you will be able to reseller account as you need.
6. Third party SSL certificate and software installation

I believe this will be helpful for you all readers and specially for new hosting hunters.

Thanks,

Nill

whilst this doesn't affect the principle under discussion;

This WHUK page
Windows Hosting | Windows Web Hosting | Windows Website Hosting | ASP.NET Hosting

States that Starter allows 5 Domains, Premium allows 10, this incurs a monthly increase of about 1/2 a pint of beer.

Bye

Ian

Hello Ian,

The post you quoted was posted in the month of Feb. We had changed our plans in the month of March this year. Hope that clears the confusion

As we always look forward to offer the best possible deal to all our customers with the reliability which is always necessary when it comes to hosting, the specifications of the hosting plans are changed whenever needed or required.

There is no specific time when the specifications of the hosting plans are changed.
