VPS Hosting - openVZ amd lxAdmin question

Hello, I am considering opening a VPS hosting account with you. Very impressed with the support comments on the forums etc.

Couple of questions:

1. Can I choose lxAdmin with Debian? I heard it was only supported on CentOS? What would you recommend?

2. Are there any disadvantages of using openVZ instead of Virtuozzo?

3. Do CentOS / Debian come with YUM / Apt pre-configured?

My preferred config would be OpenVZ with Debian and lxAmin. Would you recommend this as a stable config?

I have answered all your questions as following :-

Ans :- LXAdmin works with CentOS, RHEL and Fedora only.

2. Are there any disadvantages of using openVZ instead of Virtuozzo?
Ans :- Virtuozzo comes with power panel from which you can monitor and reboot your VPS. You can also make a clone of your VPS from your power panel and download its backup to get it migrated on a different node or save a copy on your local machine.

3. Do CentOS / Debian come with YUM / Apt pre-configured?
CentOS comes with yum which can be used to install addons like Apache, php, bind and so on. my knowledge of Debian is quite limited so you will need to wait for some Debian user to answer questions related to Debian.

1. If I open a VPS will it be sure to be situated on a server in the UK?

2. I notice in discussion number 3889 on these forums (can't post link as don't have 5 posts yet...) some debate about burstable RAM - can I be assured that burstable RAM will be available on my VPS as advertised?

Ans : Yes, all our servers are located in UK datacenter Maidenhead (UK) and thus your account would be on a UK based server.

Ans : Sure, you will get all resources which are advertised with our web hosting plans. Nothing is hidden from you.

Hello Tom,

Burstable RAM will be available for your VPS. I've had a meeting with our VPS Team and they have been advised to modify VPS Templates and include Burstable RAM feature in all templates.
