Default Apache configuration

Hi,

I'm potentially interested in signing up for one of your Linux Cpanel Web Hosting Packages, but I have a couple of questions.

Can you confirm that apache is the web server used, and if so, can you tell me what level of control I would have over editing the apache configuration file. Will I be able to access the httpd.conf file directly or will I have to do everything via a control panel?

Thanks.

Best wishes,
Adrian

Hi,

I'm not too sure on this. Try visiting http://www.webhosting.uk.com and click LiveSupport under the pre-sales category. This will be much faster than waiting for an official response from here.

Hi Adrian,

You wont have access to edit Apache configuration on a shared hosting package but you can do so incase of a VPS plan. Our VPS plans are also low cost so you can consider one of our VPS Hosting plans.

Most of the apache and php parameters can be managed using .htaccess but if you need permission to edit httpd.conf then it will be possible only with VPS Hosting plan.

Thanks Mr Administrator!

I asked about the .htaccess possibility on the live chat window, but they didn't answer that bit, so that's useful to know!

I may well get the cheapest package just to play around with for a while.
Thanks again.

variables to pass within .htaccess are known to webmasters who deal with custom configuration off php settings, mod_rewrite and other things which they need in shared hosting environment. You can do some research on web to find out what you can achieve using .htaccess

You can take a look at following thread which was posted by Kevin :-

.htaccess generator

This .htaccess generator can help you with any sort of customization you may need.
