Default Blogspot Spammers

Not sure if you lot are having the same problem but i have noticed that alot of people are using PHPbb boards to sign up and just stay dormant with a weblink in their profile. This is very annoying and i would like to know if there is a way to find ou t the IP of a user and then ban it.
Thanks
Neoki

Default Not sure

When I used phpBB2 for a forum I remember it to only have the functionality of banning email and usernames. Once you banned someone they could easily get back on your forum.

Maybe pruning old posts on the forum often could help.

You can call it give / take relationship as the person who adds content to your forum should get something in return and a link in return should help him to boost his page rank.

Search engines give out page rank on basis of content and backlinks. If you are getting contents for your forums then you should allow a link in signature as that will help the person to improve pr of his owned website.

It is not easy to find the corresponding IP address using phpBB, but it’s doable. The spammer use multiple IP addresses, but you could try running it down and blocking IP addresses.
