Default Telephone Spam

How I can get rid of telephone spam from telemarketers that usually I get everyday? These spammers are selling or advertising their service like financial products/insurance products etc.

You could tell them 'I'm Pauls brother, I'm afraid he died yesterday, please don't call us any more'

Or try this

They get this data from where you have taken same services or sometimes your TSP sells this information to these people.

When they call you they ask for your name then tell them this is wrong number by saying different name.

If you are in the UK then you need to opt out by sign upto http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/

After 28 days if you still get unsolicited calls then they are breaking the law and you can get them into heaps of trouble.

Then probably you can be phone friends ( you can have fun on the phone as well ) then try your luck sometime and go for a blind date.

This way you won't mind them calling you on your phone and you will be having fun as well.

But Paul is from Norway so he does not have to go all the way to Asia for the dates and that will not be suggested to him as well

Coming to the point....

Paul you can also try to contact the concerned people in the tele-marketing department of that company and personally request them to get your number out of their calling list (it works most of the times) but still if you are getting those calls then just tell them they will be sued and that should definitely work.

Problem is they get round this by saying they are not selling anything just doing a survey - until you listen to the end of their speech and find out that actually they are - or their rep will when they call round.

I opt out of both telephone and fax but still get them. When will they learn that I opt out because I don't want to be bothered with ANY unsolicited phone calls not just sales If I want a loan (not very likely) I will go to a bank etc.

I had someone phone me at work the other day saying that when the TV's go digital that all phones will be affected and also stop working. This company were just phoning to see if an engineer could come round next Tuesday to check whether we will be affected. They said that BT would not tell us this and wouldn't do anything about it and this was a free check. When I asked how they make their money if it is a free check she got a bit flustered. When I said we were closed next Tuesday so phone back next time they were in the area and in the meantime I would contact BT, she got even more flustered and hung up.

I don't normally get into conversations with them - just say - "I'll just see if they are in" then leave them hanging on - I put it on speaker phone so I can hear when they hang up. The record so far is about 4 minutes

I know they have a job to do but leave us alone if we have opted out - that means that lot in India too.

Yep, also the rule differ from country to country so you can not get a proper solution through legal proceeding especially when your country does not support such law against unsolicited calls. I am trying to block some known numbers from where I usually get such calls however obviously this will be not ONLY solution to get rid from these telemarketers.

Yes, there are many good place to hang out in Norway and EU itself, I need not to go for another country as I can not bear the cost at the moment.

Digital switchover affecting phones! that is one of the funniest i have heard yet regarding the switchover. I must remember that one.

If they state it is a survey then try to sell you something, you must report them Cassie, that is the only way to get rid of these people. If it is a legit survey I tell them to remove me from their list and not phone me again. This again they must do.
I don't receive any unsolicited calls now, my problem is with companies like pipex, bt, etc who because I am an existing customer they are allowed to call me. That is until I tell them not to, but then I will miss the special offers you sometimes get.

During inquiry with some of the tele-communicators I found that they got info about my mobile number from a job site where my CV was listed from last 3-4 years abandoned with same mobile number that I am using from last 5 years. I have deleted my account there and warned them not to make any unsolicited call anymore; the unwanted calls are being reduced drastically.
