I don't know if anyone has heard of this program already but.
The program is called Filezilla. Guessing by the name you would automatically think it had something to do with files. Wel yes it does. Basically for people who don't understand hosting files integrated into your Website Program Maker, this is for you. An easier, not easy, just easier program that simplifies file managing online with your host. For standards it is compulsory that you know you host (subdomain or domain example: host: inuyasha.webhosting.com) And your user and pasword. And from there you can get into your account and start file managing. It is quite useful and easy. Creating the statutory directory would've already been done (hopefully) if not you would've just needed to create a directory which would've been excactly the same as your website, (example: Website = inuyasha.webhosting.com Directory = inuyasha.webhosting.com) Pretty simple program. Good output. It's quality not quantity Hope this helps ~Inu^^ |

I've had problems with that, but my computer would just get over them after like a few days or so, or after restarting it. It caught on. Nowadays I don't have any problems with it. I did use SmartFTP once that was when I had to "CHMOD" some file directories, it couldn't be done with Filezilla, so I had to use SmartFTP, and it was for cutenews.
Your problem seems really intresting though, since noone knew what was up with your problem, not even I can figure this on out. I would just stick with SmartFTP if I were you. I just don't like the speed it takes to upload on SmartFTP and the logging it gives you I personally don't like. |

I used to use Filezilla but then started to get some strange behaviour with it and switched to SmartFTP. Shame because I liked the fact that Fz was open Source.
Talking of strange behaviour I couldn't post this using Firefox - the textarea kept losing focus - has anybody else experienced this?

There might be possibility that firewall on your computer or network could interfere with the connection that could be the reason you experience some strange behaviour, I don't think there anything wrong with FZ.

Then my friend told me about Opera. He said it was much faster, safer and had more security than Firefox did. I tryed it out and I'm pleased so far. The only thing I miss, is the scripts on Firefox. They totally pwned ass. Especially the youtube downloading one |

I use Filezilla 2.x for most stuff. Recently I have tried out version 3 which is still in beta. There are still some bugs in it which you need to be aware of, but I like it a lot. I used it to upload a 2GB website I have been working on (took bloody ages
) and was very happy with it's performance. |

How come you had 2gb to upload? I mean I'm making a site and it's a anime downloading site, but I'm not uploading episodes onto the actual web, it wouldn't ever be enough for what I would need to upload ![]() That's why I'm using rapidshare and megaupload to upload my episodes. It's great for what I wanna do anyway. But what type of website is yours then? |

It's an event photographers site, lots of thumbnails and larger pics.

Nothing firewall, or in fact connection, related. I had some large sites to upload and found that Fz was missing some files, particularly .htaccess, even when I'd selected to show hidden files. SmartFTP didn't seem to have the same issues.

Were you using Filezilla 3 beta? That has issues with hidden files, it's something they are yet to implement properly.
