Default Trackbacks; do they help in increasing blog traffic ?

Guys, for increasing traffic on blogs many webmaster provide trackbacks option for their article, what do you think does it really works and brings traffic.

It’s not about the traffic actually but trackback function helps the author of the article to keep a track of who is linking or referring to the articles. It is identified just as an acknowledgment; as well there are people who have not liked the trackback feature due to the insertion of spam links on the blogs.

Chris,
If some one trackbacks my blog post and acknowledge in his blog, then from his blog there are chances of getting good amount of traffic, right ?

There are “chances” for that but not always as it depends on which blog your blog post has been acknowledged.

One of the biggest disadvantage of trackback is that "the spammers simply point their spammy pages at your blog entries using it, hence your blog entries can be unknowingly point back at spammers websites, that pointing at your site". :eek:

Yes Paul, that really hurts me
It’s the worst side of the WEB 2. Right now we don’t have any way to protect us.

Does that mean trackbacks are not at all good for increasing traffic on blogs?

In additon, there are more chances of inviting spammers.

This could be one of the reason that most of the webmasters stay away from trackbacks.
