I'd be slightly concerned about hosting with a company who provides any kind of hosting on the LINAX platform???

Also the link from dedi to VPS on your site is broken mate. Points to

MDH.

Hello,
i recently buyed 2 big linux/cpanel cloud packages instead of dedicated servers due to 100% uptime promise referring to cloud service. I have 2 questions:

1) I have read about a big downtime in cloud service during June and i am terrified as uptime is critical for me. Has any other downtime or problem happened since then?

2) Where exactly could i measure up in a trustworthy way the amount of cpu and memory i am using to know if i am reaching my limits? In dedicated servers i used to type the uptime command in ssh.

Hi, I was one of the people that the downtime you are referring to affected. However since this unavoidable event, I can honestley say that the uptime has been 100% and have had no issues regarding downtime on my sloud server at all.

If you have a VPS, the you will get root access as if it was a dedicated server so logging in via SSH and typing >uptime will show you the relevent information.

heres mine:

root@server15 [~]# uptime
15:36:58 up 123 days, 12:41, 2 users, load average: 1.39, 0.94, 0.80

if you have a cloud HOSTING package, im not sure if you can do this other than use a third party monitoring service such as site24x7.com who are very good.

Carl.

In my case prior to migrating to the VPS Cloud I was using a lower spec dedicated server with only 1 Gb of ram. In the past month since the migration I've had more downtime than the past 3 years put together.

Hello,

There has been no downtime on our Cloud Hosting platforms since June last year. The downtime in June last year lasted a few hours and was due to a power bar issue which was faulty at manufacture. It was described at the time by the electrical engineer as a 1 in a billion chance of doing what it did. Just to add, this impacted 1 cluster out of 4.

As my original post mentioned, a Cloud VPS is not some kind of bullet proof guarantee that you will never have a problem. I could login to my own Cloud VPS now and start making random configuration changes. If it goes down, can I honestly pop a ticket in complaining that it isn't 100% uptime? If I need 2 cores of CPU, 2 GB RAM and 20 GB HDD, Can I honestly put a ticket into complain that my VPS is down if I purchased 1 core of CPU, 1 GB RAM and 10 GB HDD? If I'm making file changes in FTP and overwrite needed web files, Can I really claim that it isn't 100% uptime?

A Cloud VPS will provide you with 100% hardware and network uptime at an affordable rate. That doesn't mean to say that there will NEVER be an issue, only that we have invested as much as possible to insure that issues don't occur. As such, we are confident enough to say that we will stand by the 100% uptime SLA on our environment.
