It is quite complicated and this is very much a brief summary.
10:57 this morning our Telecity HEX BSQ_Ring switch became un-contactable according to our monitoring systems. Small amounts of packet loss to a few servers was noticed.
We shut down the suspected port down at 11:07 on a HEX Switch which is part of the link aggregation group to our HEX core router.
This was still causing problems for a few clients and there was a service disruption (downtime) for Gloucester between 12:52 and 13:12 while work was carried out.
We shut down another port in question as appeared to be affecting the HSRP traffic between the routers, causing IP network instabilities. This stopped the HSRP process issues and our monitoring cleared.
Total downtime was 20 minutes for Gloucester.
