Default Tiscali /Pipex

Anyone use either for broadband?
6 years with Pipex and never a problem as far as BB is concerned. Tiscali buy Pipex and within 4 weeks my speed has dropped from 6meg to 1, and had 36 hours of downtime. Couldn't get online yesterday at all! No email offering an apology, no statements on their site about the downtime. Couldn't get hold of them via phone as they were extremely busy dealing with all the other pis**d off folk

What a load of crap!

I "used" to have pipex as an isp - never again m8. I lasted 3 months with that outfit and then i changed to demon. One day, I woke up and when i wen't onto the computer and fire up google i got redirected to suspended.pipex.com, so after on the phone for 30 minutes, they tell me I'm suspended for running a small bittorrent tracker from my home pc. Instantly you'd think well he shouldn't be running bittorrent, but wait a minute, the tracker in question, was only being used to distribute content which I did have rights to distribute, (I was being paid by a very large company to do this and all was above board.) So pipex then look into this and see I'm correct, but they didn't unsuspend me untill I sent them a letter via snail mail promising that I wouldn't share copyrighted material. (everything is copyrighted...duh)

About 1 week later they finally reconnected me. Also when signing up they asked if i wanted them for calls, i said no, but they still hijacked my calls. So they also got the cost of my dial up for 1 week

This happened another 3 times during that 3 months even tho I kept proving I had full rights to distribute the content. I came to the conclusion that every week i was disconnected they make nearly £100 in dial up cost's after hijacking my calls aswell. Eventually I left and went with demon, - they were the best provider I ever had. At the moment I'm with BT because i got a free wireless router but tbh, I wish i stayed with demon cos I got 7MB / 448 with them but with BT i get 1mb/28.8 and BT charge £3 more.

There are a few horror stories about practically all bb providers and it is just luck as far as i am concerned. All the people who have had problems with pipex and yet I have never had any what-so-ever. I don't know anyone who is happy with tiscali though!

Good news for me though as tech support phoned me Friday, and after telling them their feeble excuse as to why my speed has dropped was ridiculous, and insulting to my intelligence to say the least, they have cut my contract short, so i can soon move.
