Well it's been all over the news this week. Teenage yobs killing / attacking poor innocent people.

Do you think our Government should bring back capital punishment?

I think you read about so many people wrongly convicted for a crime they didn't commit which makes me definately vote no to capital punishment.

Also the fact that i strongly believe that legally murdering someone because they murdered someone is just plain wrong.

I am all for life meaning life though, and hard labour at that. To have a family member murdered only to see the culprit given a few years must be awful for them. How much is a life worth!

There is a news hearing local to me. A man walked out of his house to chase a gang of three people away from his car.. he was killed with around 4 strikes to the head.

They admitted to the crime and received 12 years imprisonment which is apparently "life".

Also prisons are luxury these days.. Pool Tables etc etc.

I totally agree. I think life should mean life and not 15 years with time off for good behaviour.
I assume you are refferring to Mr Newlove?? Yes 12 years is disgusting. they will only be in their late 20s when they get out and still have a life in front of them. Doesn't seem right does it!

Yep, Gary Newlove.. What triggered me into this whole topic was his Wife who said she would be happy to trigger the electric chair and the lethal injection on these sick minded children.

The youth these days just amuse themself through Alcohol. I will be glad to get out of this "To be disastrous" country of murder and crime. Imprisonment should be physical imprisonment.. not allowed out of their cells etc etc. Human Rights is what brought this "Pool Table" malarkey and sports activity's in Prison, but their human rights should be taken away from them for committing such a serious crime.

I think capital punishment is important to make safe and secure society especially like for example those who are serial killers that found 100% verdict of being guilty.

Well me and my family have decided that we are all moving to Canada within the next 1 - 2 years, considering the UK is totally getting out of hand.

Apparently yes it is! A friend lived there just outside Montreal. People still can leave their houses unlocked over there. They have gun laws same as the USA but very little gun related crime.

Bit bloody cold in winter though!

I must admit Dan that I wouldn't mind a few years over there. I have anothe friend who was born over here but lived almost all her life in Canada. She recently sent me some photos of the snowfall and I was amazed at the depth of it! I must see if i can find some and post them here.
Would also be interested in finding out first hand if bears really do sh*t in the woods

I would rather have a good ol' beaver in my bedroom rather than a Black Widow

Capital Punishment is an indication of society failing. Although I do agree that some people seriously tempt me to change my mind sometimes. However, we must focus on the cause of such problems, rather than the punishment. The fact of the matter is, it's far too easy to survive in the UK. Don't have a job? Free money. Don't have a house? A free house. Have children you can't afford? No problem, more free money.

Surely the above examples have helped society but I think in the past 15 years they have been taken too far. There has to be boundaries.

Also, what Dan said reminds me of a conversation I had with a Canadian a few months ago. This was on a train trip from London...

We got talking about what it's like to live in England and I told him it's quite easy and comfortable. I have had the benefit of visiting quite a few countries and living in one or two of them as well . He then started to tell me about a conversation he had with a train conductor on a previous journey. The train conductor was convinced that Canada was a utopia with no crime, well paid jobs, affordable housing. No matter how much he tried to correct him, the train conductor just wouldn't accept it.

Every country has their own unique set of problems and you might start wishing for the UK problems after awhile . The grass is not always greener....

Not talking about UK but in general Political and economic downswings is also one of the reason that drive people to move to other countries.
