Dedicated Server hosting or VPS hosting

I am looking out for a hosting plan for a private download website. I will only be hosting the media files such as .mp3 and .wav files. I am considering two options - hosting these files on VPS Server or buying a monthly package for a dedicated server. However I do not have complete knowledge about both these options.

I would like to know which is a better option.

In my opinion, dedicated hosting is a better option. A dedicated server provides with a magnitude of power and flexibility that will ensure the speed and smooth functioning of your website. A dedicated server will provide you with greater reliability and speed. The hosting resources offered will ensure that your website will never go down. The media files tend to be heavy and there are chances of your website getting slowed down, therefor I think it is a preferable to host on the dedicated servers.

As per my knowledge Dedicated hosting is a good option for someone who wants more storage and bandwidth and control over the server. The advantages of having dedicated hosting are: unlimited databases and email addresses as well as unlimited bandwidth and I think VPS is a good solution for someone whose website outgrows his shared hosting plan limits, while he is not ready for purchasing a dedicated hosting plan.

In my opinion, dedicated hosting and VPS hosting both are good hosting options. Selecting any one of these depends on the hosting requirements of the website.

There's a lot of difference on VPS and dedicated servers. While they may be similar in features and both offer root access but there a performance difference in both. When it comes to downloading audio/video files, it is best to choose a dedicated server. You have a fixed resource allocation there and you can upgrade as required. My opinion, dedicated hosting is a better option for you.

There's a lot of difference between the resources offered by a dedicated server and VPS. VPS should be a choice of whom have just out grown a shared hosting package and wants a full root access over the hosting environment. Resource intensive applications or high traffic websites require dedicated server for optimum performance.

The resources offered with a VPS are way to less in comparison to a Dedicated server. Also, CPU resources are shared between VPSs created on the same node and hence this eliminates the chances and possibility of running resource intensive applications on a VPS neither this allows video or audio streaming. Hence, users who wish to stream videos or audios on the server should choose a Dedicated server which offers all the resources of the hardware to the user.
