Internet2 is also known as UCAID (University Corporation for Advanced Internet Development). It is a non-profit consortium. It develops and deploys advanced network applications and technologies. One of the objectives is to ensure high-speed data transfer.

Many people suggest that it is a network entirely different from Internet. This is not true. Internet2 is in fact a consortium and not a computer network.
