AVG is not offering updates for free versions as they have discontinued free service. you will need to find the updates manually and then download those and install.

you can also try reinstallation to see if it can fetch the updates or check the DNS resolvers of your local machine.

7.1 is no longer supported.
7.5 certainly is.

7.5 is certainly supported - update for AVG has always been crappy though, sometimes I've gone for weeks without it working properly. As long as you have a firewall I wouldn't sweat it.

Thanks I will try out by installing a new package of AVG and try to update it.
Is there any latest version of AVG after AVG 7.5?

I'm pretty sure 7.5 is the latest - the Grisoft download site will have the latest version.

I'm using the latest 7.5 version now, and it just work as a charm with no problem, the latest update , it was about 3 or 4 days.

I think you just need to register it properly and enjoy using it , I do consider it among the best after AVIRA ANTIVIR.

I haven't had to register AVG for a long time - I thought it was just voluntary now?

nice to meet you again Kev, AVG is offering a TRIAL serial number with the standard installaion so that you can try it like the others and you can see the deadline of your licenseon it.
If you have already registered it ,look also if your license is still alive.

I don't think somebody can sacrifice his time to offer people a free tools to use and a free update except if it's GNU and it's an OPEN SOURCE , while AVG is not.

Yeah Kev , it's free , read the first letters of the given serial number and tell me if you find this T R I A L
And yeah there are some free softwares but not open sources , but they are never update second per second to offer the bugfixes, updates, new releases,24/7 support

Can't remember what the serial was or if it even gave me one. It works, reasonably reliably and if you're looking for a free a-v then it's probably a pretty safe bet even with the occasional update server problem.

Not sure I get your point about the open-source thing - o-s projects aren't updated on a second-by-second basis are they, they certainly don't offer 24/7 support (unless you are counting community based support which from a business point of view doesn't count). There are some really good free but not open-source programs - what about WinRar, Zone Alarm, SmartFTP, Opera etc etc etc. All excellent programs, all free and all commercial.

That's exactly what I'm saying how many version there are of Winrar,ZoneAlarm,SmartFTP or even FlashFXP or something else, I'm not speaking about communities ' help but the origin technical support with real serious problems!
There a diffrent between My Job is to sell AVG so that's my work and that I have skills and can create something that can help people so I gonna provide it for free but I wouldn't mind for donations.

So the first time I must be at time to resolve my clients problems or I will refund their money back, the second time I will offer help if I have time beyond my buisness and they'll thank me to do so.

Opera,NetScape,VMWare and others' weren't free but the full story is on the net why the become so.

Kev , really I do enjoy to chat with you , but I didn't sleep for 30hours , I gonna have some rest now , take care man.
