Default Child Safety?

Personally i don't think the internet is safe enough for children, it's too easy for somone to go on here and tell them this. There should be a way to limitation this

for example, internet can only be accessed with an Internet ID. And this ID dedicates one thing, DoB date of birth. That way children are denied from certain sites etc.

as for using their parent's accounts, thats another story

Who would bring this system and how would they control it...and who would pay? And I guess you mean the World Wide Web and not the Internet?

I think you can monitor and mentor them for safe surfing, they need guidance and coach about safe internet surfing, I personally implemented this to my children. Also a California based company has launched a new social networking service at imbee.com/ for children today, the service takes strong measures to keep kids safe. You can have a look on that site for some guidance.

Paul is right about mentoring, guidance and observation (as long as it is unobtrusive). Any scheme for an 'internet ID' would be a) impossible and unworkable b) deeply unpleasant and open to abuse and c) a terrible infringement of civil rights.

I dont think Internet is that much bad for children . We should change our thinking according to time . And what do you mean by "Safety" exactly ? online porn content ?

For your info some potential risks are as below for children, that you can not generally ignore;

Could anybody really do any more to make people aware of the risks? It seems that not a day goes by without a newspaper or television running a feature on the evil Internet. kids are a parent'sr responsibility and are as safe as they care to make them. Ultimately if they really think the Web is that dangerous a place they can always disconnect and leave the rest of us in peace.

blogs.zdnet.com/social/?p=68
MySpace is planning to offer parents the chance to download software which will monitor aspects of their children's activities on the social networking site.

Pretty poor really. A panicky response to grief they are getting from pressure groups in the US.

I really believe monitoring your kids would be the safest way, Some parents just get too paranoid sometimes. They want to have an excuse for not being there to closely guide their kids. They want a robot or something to do their job.
