Default Setting up MS Outlook

Hi, I'm new to all this, so this might seem like a daft question: I've setup a number of email accounts with WHUK and I want to link one of them to my MS Outlook 2003, to get my email directly via Outlook.

I've got the password on all my WHUK email accounts to be the same as the initial CPanel login password, but when I setup the email account in Outlook, it constantly asks me for the password, and does this for a while until it says it cannot connect to the incoming/outgoing mail servers.

I've been online with the support people for hours, but they don't know what the problem is. I've setup Outlook exactly as they suggest, but it just doesn't want to connect to the WHUK servers.

I've also got a link to my Hotmail account which works fine (Using 'Outlook Connector'), but I wonder if this is conflicting with WHUK somehow?

Has anybody come up against this problem and/or know of a fix?

Thanks.

You'll need to double check that all your server settings are correct. As you are in cPanel, when you go in the e-mail accounts section near the bottom of the page it should show you all the details that you need to enter to set your account up in Outlook. Please ensure that the details displayed there are the same details that Outlook is trying to configure the account by. This may mean that you have to use the advanced view of account setup in Outlook rather than the basic view.

Hope this helps .

Hi David - just got around to your reply - it's been a busy year!

I checked the Email Accounts section, and I couldn't find anything there about what settings to use. Where else could I look? Is IMAP, or POP3 better for hooking up to the WHUK server?

Cheers.

Doug.

Could you confirm you have configured it as per :

configure-outlook-express

Also, are all your email accounts (for the domain hosted on our server) giving you the same issue?
