This list is wonderful. Thanks for sharing it. I didn't even know about half of the search engines on this list. I've tried Google, Yahoo!, bing Ask and Duckduckgo so far. I'll give the others a try.

That's a great list. I used to use Altavista in the past. What happened after Google bought it? I just visited the website and it looked so simple as Google does.

I think I've read it was Yahoo! that bought Altavista, not Google. At first Altavista and Alltheweb were purchased by Overture , and later Yahoo! purchased Overture.

DMOZ is another directory. I'm not sure of its importance today, but a few years ago, it was considered one of the best directories to which you could submit your website.

Dogpile used to be really good, but I have to admit I haven't gone to any of the other search engines in years except for Google and sometimes Yahoo.

That's definitely a comprehensive list! So thanks for that. I've got to say that I am a one search engine man and Google always does the job for me so I'm glad to see that it is top of your list .
