Skype Acquired ...

Not sure if anyone has read the news that Skype has been acquired by Microsoft in a $8.5 billion deal which should go through by end of year. Might not be set in stone though.

Whats your views on this?

What a fantastic value they have achieved for such software created in Estonia (i think) and based in Luxenbourg. With only around 3% using the paid services on it i guess its going to be upto Microsoft to try and make profits from there acquisition.

Could this be the future or end to Skype as we know it? with apparently more users than facebook its just another techno giant to be swallowed by the big mights of the world wide web.

Well, not too sure what attracted Steve Ballmer to take such decision to invest in a company which comes with substantial debt !
Microsoft hope that with such acquisition will increase the accessibility of real-time video and voice communications which will bring new business & revenue opportunities !
Let's see how it comes out
