If you want to start a good thread or making a quality post in forums
Dear Ones, Here are some points those one can keep generally in his/her mind while posting in a forum. You might have some other useful points too. You may want to add them here, which will be useful for newbies to learn, get a right direction, to make quality post or to start a good thread in any forum. Thanks.
* Before posting a question
Use search feature you may be surprised to see sometimes your problems already have been discussed here.
In case if you find nothing in search, you may want to google for the same.
Subject plays most important role. So create such a line, which indicates at your problem. By doing this:
~ One will know what he is getting into before clicking the thread, this way he will save his time, he can make a choice to give his opinion or not to waste his time on something he won’t be able to answer.
~Look at your question once again to see if it has covered/mentioned most of that which is relevant to your issue/problem. Don’t wait for others to ask you the details. For example: Operating System – Linux, Windows etc. Required System Details, Domain/server name/details, Hosting details or other details regarding issue.
And anything you have done since when things were working fine.
The post you are making is in the appropriate forum topic, if you are not sure about where to post then find something which is very close to your topic. Of course Administrator/moderator will rearrange your post, if it is not in the right place. So do not hesitate or post the multiple copies of the same question.
* If you are replying to a thread then…
Reply only if you really have a real solution for the problem or you have another option or suggestion to give. This would save other’s time to scroll through number of nonsense posts before they get to the relevant one.
If the discussion is turning into debate then you may try to bring it back to the discussion. You may try to keep discussion as on topic as possible.
You may want to help someone by spending some of your time to search on google to find a satisfying solution or answer. You may want to provide the source to find more details about the topic.
If you want to answer or reply to a specific point of one's question or comment then it will be a great idea to use the quote feature and eliminate the part that is not relevant to your response. This will make it clear for others to see what actually you are commenting on.
If you must discuss something else out of the topic, it will be a great idea to start a new thread, instead of breaking the current thread.
Have a great, quality posting.
