LOL.
You have raised a good question and here's where advanced SEO knowledge comes into action. Once everyone starts focussing on the keyword for example "web Hosting" then the priority goes to the website which has got more quality backlinks ( high pr backlinks or direct links ), age of the domain name, daily traffic for the website, average monthly ranking for the keyword. Focus on my last point => average monthly ranking for the keyword. This is very important as fortunecity is on top right now in google search for web hosting and no one can bring that down as of now. Fortunecity will always remain on top untill google changes its algorithm. Its always good to focus on keywords which have less competition and you can start focussing tougher keywords once you get good success with the less competitive keywords.

I must say that there is lot in this SEO thread, I mean really great points for search engine optimization. But then what, after getting on Google’s first top 10? Once you get on the google’s or any other search engine’s list its more difficult to sustain, as customer’s choices/search/keywords are constantly changes. For example today they are in search of “cheap webhosting” but tomorrow it will be different “affordable webhosting or best webhosting”. Scenario is not different with the strategies of search engines. So the first thing is to know what your customer is finding/searching for ie. keywords. After that constantly find new ways, ideas to upgrade your pages for these keywords ( you must be thinking huge task), needs a lot of hard work. Of course to get there and be there always isn’t effortless at all.
