rar files won't download

For some reason certain file extensions (including rar!) won't download via http from my site - trying to download it gives a 404 (it IS there though). Zip files work ok? What can I do to fix this? I couldn't find anything in plesk...

Hi,

You might want to contact the support department for this. The support department will need to check those files first. If everything looks fine with them they might need to take a look at the configuration of some files on server.

Make sure to provide them with the URLs or files that have issues. I am sure they'll get this resolved for you.

You'd need to add the proper MIME types for the files to be considered as downloadable.
This is the MIME type for RAR which needs to be added into your server: application/x-rar-compressed

Indeed, MIME types can be a pain and a half sometimes but once you have the main ones added it's fine

im sorry. What i meant was, maybe the one who uploaded the rar file had encountered a problem and the file got corrupted that is why it has error when it is downloaded.
