Hi, what specifically are you having trouble with?

I take it you have uploaded the forum folder onto your web space?
To add it to that location, upload it to your public_html folder and change the yabb folder name to 'forum'.

I haven't used yabb but after you have uploaded it goto to the install file as per the instructions.

I would recommend PHPBB over YABB, but then again that's only my opinion

PHPBB has an easy to read manual which comes with it, plus it's free.

Hi jon.
Its a perl script and do's not install like a normal script (such as phpbb or smf) download the latest version from the yab website and let me know what you think

Hi Dan.
Yes I may well go for the easy phpbb install if I get no where with yabb

I used to be a phpbb man, but not anymore, I did try phpbb3 and found it very slow, it is also more forum than i need really.

I prefer smf, i think their intergration hooks and their ssi file extremely useful.

I just downloaded yabb and installed it on my linux vps without any problems, you do have a lot of file permissions to set before you install.
But apart from that everything was quick and easy with the setup.

Hi acwatts.
did you have to alter the path to to perl ? and where did you place the cgi bin files ?. or did you just upload all the files to 1 folder as per a phpbb install.
Many Thanks.

No the perl path was left as it is, i uploaded the yabb2 folder into public_html/cgi-bin/ and the yabbfiles to /public_html/yabbfiles/

Then just point your browser to yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/Setup.pl taking note of the capital S

Once installed though the path to view your forums would be yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl

But you could setup a sub domain like forums.yourdomain.com and point it to yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl

Edit: Just been looking at yabb forums and they say you can put yabb2 files under /forums
