Default Sky broadband email issues

Some people who use sky broadband may have experienced problems sending email via the mail.domain.com smpt outgoing server over sky. Sky wont allow this and to get round the problem install this freeware application called Free SMTP Server. A google search will bring it up! It solved hours of support calls for me... and sure it will for you if you have the same problem

I haven't seen much downtime with my broadband connection and if in case there are any issues, it' sorted instantly.

Good to hear, but this is about email configuration for use with personal emails not how good your connection is!

Yes. You can either use your domain name or mail.yourdomain.com in your Outlooks SMTP and POP3 server setting field.

it does

We have port 26 open on most of our cpanel servers. Some servers have port 587 open as the secondary SMTP port. Some AOL customers demand 587 to be set as secondary SMTP port and we put such customers on specific servers where we have port 587 open for SMTP.

You could try SSH Tunneling... Allthough it seems a bit much!

Yea!

lol

Hmm shame there isnt just some kind of port forwarder application u can run on the server.

So for instance you can just add forward port 123 to port 21 etc

that would surly be much easier than running multiple instances of exim etc?

Just a thought if anyone can shoot this down as to why its not possible feel free '_'
