Can someone please clear up something that has been puzzling me for ages. That is the WHM service status info.
I have been told many times by support that the server load, cpu usage, etc, should be ignored as it has nothing to do with my vps but infact it represents the actual server status only. Is this the case? And if so surely they aren't mutually exclusive, one affects the other anyway doesn't it! Not having any trouble at present, but would like to know for future reference how the service status stats actually affect me, and should I be concerned when they go into the red! Thx

Servers that we use for VPS nodes are high specification servers with 8 - 12GB RAM and these servers never face any problem till the load goes beyond 10. anything below 3 is normal and you never see any difference in performance.
we've recently ordered few dozens of very high specification servers and we will be using these new high specification dell servers for our VPS nodes from now onwards. If you ever wish to see enhanced performance from your VPS then you can consider moving your VPS on this new nodes. We've started getting good deals from Dell as we order servers in bulk to fulfill our requirements and requirements of some of our friendly concerns using Bluesquare datacenter. If you don't have any trouble with your existing VPS then there's nothing to worry, but as a sales person I always think of high specification servers as customer satisfaction goes on improving with improvement in server configuration. ![]()

[quote] All very interesting stuff, I have been placed on the new servers and have experienced a few blips at 3-4 and the server seemed to stall. Only lasts about 60 secs. Have had some strange Duh moments from the server usually momentary and by the time I have checked it out (starts with mail not downloading, followed by unresponsive whm and ftp and sometimes loss of http) and am ready to contact support, it rights itself. One interesting point though, I was not thoroughly aware of crons set up by support and as a side issue, they discounted their own crons when I was experiencing a timed blip. Eventually we did get to the bottom of it, but still vps support needs more training, as I did ask "apart from my crons, what else is running???" It took a ticket to resolve the issue and turn off the cron (which turned out to be unnecessary to run anyway). Surely there should be a "font" on knowledge to share for support on vps? I have been told many things since joining, and had my account moved 4 times so I have an idea of what I should be able to do or not. Last edited by byteme; 04-10-2008 at 03:37 PM.
