Default Installing Joomla

Hello,

i have recently signup for joomla web hosting and installed joomla on "www.catzathome.co.uk" and for the most part it works fine. The only issue I have is the SAVE / APPLY / CANCEL buttons do not work. They jsut redirect me back to to my home page (e.g from the "www.catzathome.co.uk/administrator/" page if I click SAVE/ APPLY / CANCEL I get sent back to the home page of "www.catzathome". After hours of googling and on the JOOMLA forums I have found no other suggestions but to check with my host company if there is something (e.g Security) which might effect a joomla install.

Is there anything?

Thank you

(PS It is the same if I install it with Fantastico or by uploading it myself manually)

Default New Install

Hi Kev,

I will have a look at the DB as that is a good suggestin- i did use the Fantasco script though so I kind of expected it to work.

Thanks for replying

Yeah it should work - that was just a wild stab in the dark really as it's been a long time since I've used Joomla/Mambo and you would expect it to fail a bit more gracefully if it was failing to connect to the db/find the right table.

What about permissions? Do you need any particular rights to carry out the actions you're trying to do?

Jon123 has just answered another post with a similar problem - could it be that your session is timing out between requests, in which case modifying your session timeout value will solve the problem.

Default That unfortuantley did not help

I was unable to change the time out value via the backoffice global configuration as the save button does not work so I also changed the setting manually in configuration.php file as the other poster has done. but to no avail. I am going to use one of my other accounts and perform an clean install of joomla to see it i get the same prob. If I do I will raise a ticket.

Default Fixed it

Backed up my custom graphics and other non standard bits and pieces then wiped clean the joomla install by deleteing all of the files and dropping the database. Reran the script and this time it works. Now I just have the tedious task of uploading and testing all of my graphics and other cutomistations. Annoying but at least it works now. hope that helps any other joomla users.

I've face this problem twice , and what I've noticed is that copying an installed joomla from a place to another place causing this problem , I don't know why, all what I've done is to go back to joomla.org and redownload it again then upload it directly to my site and install it then it's been resolved.

I wish to know why it happened too.
Good luck buddy

Hello - I've been having a similar problem occurring on my joomla hosting site as well. Installed Joomla through fantastico and it worked without problems in the beginning. Now however, i'm finding myself being thrown to the frontpage every time i try to add content.
I have two installs of Joomla from fantastico, one works a treat (the older install) while this newer (installed in March, problems began about 2 weeks ago)
is showing problems

I have also experienced a similar problem just recently on a blog i'm running (although not installed through fantastico) - are there any global changes made to timeouts or such like??

phptaxonomy.overchord.net is the affected site.
