FTP not working for my subdomain(s)

Hey,

I recently created a few subdomains on my account.
When I create an FTP and assign it to the correct directory, I get an error when trying to connect to the FTP.

I don't know if this is wrong but.
ftp:/ /username@subdomain.domain(dot)com

Is this correct?
Well I get an error straight away -> connection to host can not be found <-
It doesn't prompt me for a username and password.

Sorry if I am doing this wrong but this is the way how it worked for my old hosting company.

May I know why there is a FTP icon on my cpanel, and it says "Add FTP" ?

FTP accounts are setup on the main domain name and not the subdomain.

You cannot use ftpuser@subdomain.domain.com. It has to be ftpuser@domain.com

Please try ftp://username@domain.com

It will connect you directly to the directory of the subdomain.
