Default what about a dot.biz

I have a domain name in mind using the extension .biz but I'm wondering how Google ranks biz domains in general. It has always favored educational, information-oriented websites over sales-oriented sites.

Even though .com technically stands for commercial, .biz seems more overtly commercial. Do I stand a good chance of having a dot.biz and still getting traffic from Google?

Domain extensions don't have much importance in ranking websites rather it's the website content which plays an vital role and helps in getting relevant traffic and better ranking.

Dot biz domains are liked by search engines. Consider the fact that this TLD was created to relieve some of the demand for .com domains and to provide an alternative for businesses whose preferred domain name in com had already been registered.

If you have a business, a .biz is a good choice for your website.

The web is full of sites that are sales-oriented and many of them get enormous amounts of traffic. It should be as easy to get traffic for a site that is commercial as one that isn't.

A domain name with dot biz sounds very catchy and easy to remember. The dot biz options should also be far more numerous than dot com, and that makes it easier to find a domain name that is ideal.

I agree. The TLD doesn't count that much when it comes to website ranking. As long as your website has useful and quality content, and you apply SEO techniques to it properly, it would get the page ranking it deserves.

The main part of your domain name is the second level which comes before the dot. With dot biz, you have so many more choices than with dot com. If you can get your keywords in your domain name with a dot biz, I would choose it over a dot com.

The last time I used a .biz website, it ended up scamming me. That's why I don't like websites which use dot biz domain names, let alone register a dot biz domain name.

I think it is up to you to optimize the domain well for a good search engine ranking. I don’t think there will be any major difference in the rankings just because your domain name has .biz in it. Everything depends on the content given in the web pages and the use of keywords. If the online promotion is good, the rankings of the website will surely come up.

The dot info seems to be the only way that might hurt a domain name's chances. Other than that, I don't think search engines look at anything except how pertinent the name itself is. What comes after the dot really doesn't count in my opinion.

I agree that the extension of your domain wouldn't affect the domain ranking that much. It is your SEO effort which count. However, you register a domain name and build a website not only for search engines but also for users. Think about it before you use new and less known extensions for your domains.
