Default Newbie domain Q: WHUK WhoIS privacy registration options & costs?

Hi Y'all,

A newbies question about domain registration: what 'whois' privacy options do WHUK offer for which TLDs, if so, do they charge extra?

Feel free to point me to a suitable How To or Knowledgebase articles - I did search, but clearly didn't use the correct WHUK-speak terms

This is also a pre-sales Q, as I'm asking before deciding where to register my domain, accept the free offer here, or 'elsewhere' - the availability of free or cheap WhoIS privacy will be the final arbiter in my choice but any other advice gratefully accepted

Cheers!

Domain Privacy can be enabled on .com, .org, .net, .info, .biz, .name, .mobi and .tv TLD domain names. You cannot enable ID Protection for .us and .eu domain names. If you wish to enable the domain name with ID Protection, you have to pay an additional charge of £ 7 GBP per year.

You can also use Webhosting.uk.com's details for your whois records. You need not pay any additional charges for this.

Hello,

When you register a domain name, You have to provide the personal information of the domain name owner. That may be an individual or a company. This information goes live once the domain name is registered. Nowa day's Private information is a serious issue, And for that ID protection is needed. This is known as ID protection.

TLD's That allow IOD protection

1. .com/.net
2. .org
3. .biz
4. .info
5. .name
6. .mn
7. .mobi
8. .cc
9. .tv
10. .bz
11. .ws
12. centralnic

TLD's that do not allow ID protection.

1. .in
2. .us
3. .coop
4. .eu
5. .travel
6. .uk

Charges for the ID protect are as mentioned above by Adam i.e £7.00 Annually.

Regards,
Ken.

There are few times when I see a place that is hidden by their whois lookup that I worry about. Now if I am checking out a possible vendor (who is not freelance that is) I might see some issues with it, depending on exactly what (if not all) they are hiding.

It depends on which WHOIS lookup service you are checking against. It might happen with some WHOIS service 'websites' but not with all other prominent WHOIS sites.

Default Register domain independently

If you really like to hide you registration info, I would suggest you register the domain directly from a domain registrar, the hosting provider mainly focus on hosting not domain, you can check this page ( Link removed ) to see if there's any to meet your requirement
