Default VeriSign.. not again please !

VeriSign will be increasing domain name pricing (.com domains will increase by 7% and .net by 10%) will go into effect July 1st.
ahh.... seems they had a hard hit of recession

The increase in price of domain registration might result into loss of some customers for VeriSign which might hit them badly as well

Well over here what matters for me is that Webhosting UK is not increasing domain registration prices. Even if there is a price rise, I will still stick to WHUK due to the excellent & professional support they provide to their clients.

When there are hosts offering Free Domains with the Web Hosting packages, why would anyone prefer to go with them and pay for domain?

Well, that's bad news. I hope VerySign is the only registrar which will increase domain pricing. I hate to have to spend more for domain names. Life has been hard enough without it.

Possibility is that Verisign might not enjoy monetary gain from the Increase of domain pricing. Verisign sold out their certificate portion I.e. Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Services, the VeriSign Trust Services of the business to Symantec Corp . Change in Ownership or say New Contract might have resulted in Increase of domain pricing.

Honesly I hate VeriSign. For some reason they have always been trouble for me and I refuse to deal with them directly. I am so thankful I can get a round it, I would suggest others doing the same if possible.

Hello,

Registrations of .com and .net are processed via registrars accredited by ICANN. The gTLD .com and .net domain is completely operated by VeriSign so there is a monopoly of VeriSign in Business. Generally speaking, If the registry increases the price of particular gTLD domain then obviously there is a chance of rise in price at registrar end.

Yeah, that's true, domain name pricing hike by VeriSign would adversely affect domain industry but we at Webhosting.uk.com don't have any plan to increase domain cost (.com / .net) at the moment rather we are offering them for FREE with every new shared/reseller hosting package as a Welcome Gift

That's great Harry. I hope more webmasters looking for web hosting service and registering domain names are aware of this offer and take advantage of it. Nothing can be cheaper than free.

Good to know that we can still rely on WHUK if we need our websites hosted. If I am understanding this right, WHUK is affected with the price increase of VeriSign. How come you can still give a free domain?

Primary Business of WHUK is Web Hosting Service and not Domain Registration. We offer Domains to customers at a very limited profit margins so as to cover our expenditure on the utilization of resources.

Therefore, we can manage to offer a Free domain name with our Shared and Reseller hosting plans. Free domain for Life is a Promotional offer by WHUK.

Also, customer can take the advantage of Free domain for Life only till the Hosting plan is Active. If for some reason, the hosting plan is canceled, customer has to pay for the domain name

Hope this explains...

So everyone else needs to pay for the fact that they lost customers? Not attacking you, but if that is the reason its a messed up reason if any. Talk about a smack down, I would hate it if I were a client of theirs.
