Default Where are our domains registered?

Where is your domain name actually registered and "stored"? Suppose your registered a domain on Go Daddy and accidentally the registrars folded, would you lose your domain?

ICANN and Nominet are the places where such domain disputes issues are usually resolved, still am not sure where all millions of domains are registered & stored

That's right. You should make sure the company you register the domain with have a Nominet, ICANN membership.

Hello,

When the domain name is registered, registrar forward details to registry of respective TLD's to manages the domain name database so in case your registrar is not releasing the domain, you may contact to registry and get your domain

Hello,

In case, if the registrar winds up the business, you will only loose their control panel for particular domain. If the domain is .com/.net gTLD domain then you may contact "VeriSign" in order to release and unlock the domain name. You may even contact "ICANN" if you wish to release and unlock the gTLD domain's. In regards to .UK domains, you will definitely need to contact NOMINET ( Nominet ) and get the IPS Tag changed to any new registrar. So there is no need to panic even if the registrar has folded up.
