.co.uk or uk.com?

I notice that UK based websites have usually been using co.uk extension for the domains for quite awhile, but now many of them including this website use uk.com. For SEO purposes, which one do you recommend more?

The .co.uk or .uk.com domain extensions are basically geographical based. Whereas .com is considered to be global. If your target audience are based in the UK, from an SEO point of view it would be beneficial to get better position in the SERP.

Both extensions are valuable

IMO, it all depends on domain availability, if you manage to get .co.uk domain try to grab it's uk.com extension which will help you to resist any unknown competition in near future

Make sure uk.com domains are a bit expensive compare to .co.uk

I could swear I read something recently that said since .co (Columbia) wasn't doing so well with sales wise for their ext's they were just giving them away willy nilly, so now everyone has one and its confusing for viewers since most still think .co means company, when it doesn't.

You may consider any UK domains for your business. As long as your domains are hosted on UK based servers no issues with your search rankings if you are targeting Google UK.
