Question Domain transfer - how long until verification email?

Hi,
I've initiated a domain transfer, but have yet to receive the verification email. It has been nearly two days now. Yesterday, when I checked with the online support, they told me "they were sure I would get the email in the next few hours". That was 20 hours ago. I put in a support ticket and was told that the current status was "we are obtaining the current Whois information in order to generate the verification email".

I don't mind waiting at all, but I assumed the waiting bit would be after replying to the verification email. That's been my experience with domain transfers up until now. Why does it take so long to "obtain the current whois information"?

time whois <mydomain>
...
real 0m1.582s

One and a half seconds, from my machine.

Thanks

Rob

Hi Rob,

Welcome to WebHosting.uk.com forum community ..!

I checked the status of the domain name transfer, it shows that the automated system is not able to find your updated domain registrant contact details to send out the auto-verification email, so that the domain transfer process begins after you accept and approve the transfer request.

The part you need to play at the moment is to contact your current domain registrar and check with them that the contact details updated in the Registrant Contact Info and the Administrative Contact Info are same. This type of domain transfer status results if the contact details are not updated for a long time or if the contact details differ. Make sure that the domain name is unlocked at the current domain registrar for domain transfer.

The part I need to play to start the domain transfer action is when you confirm these things and I submit a request manually to our Registrar. Our Registrar will then complete the next steps to start the process for domain transfer.

It may take 24 hours to reach the email for confirmation, however, it would begin when the request is sent to our Registrar manually which I would be able send immediately after your confirmation for domain unlocked & updated contact information.

I advice to update the name servers of the hosting server your hosting account is created to your domain name at the current registrar. The name server information is provided to you in the Welcome Email sent to your registered email address on file. The name server updation to your domain name would propagate in 12 to 24 hours and the domain name would start resolving from our servers.

We can then start the domain transfer process which would lead to minimum downtime for your domain name being online during the process of domain name transfer.

Have a Nice Day ..!

Hi!

Thanks for the very quick response.

I can confirm the registrant, administrative, billing and technical contact details are all the same - cf the output of whois:
Registrars.Registrant:
Charlton, Rob <my email>@gmail.com
<my address>

Administrative Contact, Technical Contact:
Charlton, Rob <my email>@gmail.com
<my address>

I can also confirm the domain is unlocked. I've updated the DNS at the current registrar to point to webhosting.uk.com's servers as per the welcome mail.

Many thanks

Rob

Hi Rob,

The manual notification has been sent to our domain registrar. The reference no. is 100115-000067. I will immediately update you on the registered email address with us once I have any response from our domain registrar for the domain name transfer request being initiated at the email address registered in the administrative contact details of the domain name.

Cheers Rob,

The domain would be transferred in the next 5 to 7 days. You may contact us on Live Chat and confirm the same from our Billing Department.
