Default Addon domain query

Hi

I've just registered a new domain name (with Web Hosting UK) and wondered if I need to hang on for a while for it to become active.

I tried to add it to my main hosting account as an Addon Domain, but got an error message:

"Error from park wrapper: Sorry, cannot determine nameserver IPs. Please make sure that the domain is registered with a valid domain registrar".

Should I just wait a bit, or is there a real problem I should get the Support Team to look at? I assume I don't need to change the nameservers or anything as it is all with Webhosting UK.

Thanks in advance!

It seems that the domain is not yet registered, could you please let me know the domain you have ordered with us ?

Thanks James. I've sent you a PM with the domain details. It may just be a case of waiting for it to propagate.

Thanks James. It worked this time.

Another quick question: do Addon domains all have their own cPanels (eg accessible through 'addondomain.com/cpanel')? So I can use Fantastico to put a Wordpress blog onto the new site? Or will I need to do it somehow through the cPanel of the primary domain?

Cheers.

You'll not get a separate cPanel for the addon domains. You will have to login to the cPanel of the primary domain and install the wordpress through Fantastico on the addon domain. During wordpress installation you'll get the option to select the addon domain.

Let me know if you've any further questions.

Hi Bertrum,
If you want to have individual cPanel for each of your domain then you will have to go with higher hosting package like reseller, VPS or even a Dedicated server.

Its very easy to add & manage all your addon domains through cPanel. For some reason if you get stuck with some technical issues related with your website hosting package do post them over here. We would be glad to help you with all your hosting related questions. You can go through our cPanel tutorials which will surely help you to understand its interface and working.

Thanks Harry. I managed to get the addon domain sorted and install WP without any problem. More a case of this being the first addon domain that I've added - future ones shouldn't be a problem as long as I remember that new domains take a little while to propagate.

My last question on this is sort of an observation on my cPanel. When I created the addon domain, it showed up as such ('addondomain.com') on cPanel. But there was also a subdomain created - 'addondomain.maindomain.com'. Is this what normally happens? The sites I'm going to be making will all be very unrelated, so unless there is a technical reason why this subdomain was created, could I just delete it?

Thanks again guys!

That's great Bertrum

Yes, subdomains are created automatically for all addon domains you add under your main cpanel hosting account. You should not delete them else you will have to face issues. Don't worry, all addon domains are independent domains.
