I would recommend Web Hosting.UK.com to purchase domains, top reliability and 24/7 support

Yep, I do agree with you Dan, but domains can be bought from any registrar of your choice & can be later on transferred over to WebHosting UK
Not only new, but existing/older domains too can be transferred over. Ask our Billing Dept regarding the procedure involved into this process..

Godaddy has a huge following no doubts.. I believe it is their complicated interface which makes it quite difficult for newbies..

Search couple of different registrar and compare or a better option just put your worries on WebHosting UK, it's always good to keep everything at one place. Will make things easy at the time of renewals..

Yes, there interface is quite complicated which makes domain registration process a very difficult task for the newbies. But its not the case with WebHosting UK. Here's the direct link to register domains with WebHosting UK. You just need to enter the domain name to check for availability, if the domain is available, select the number of years from the drop down menu and then fill up the order form and make the payment that's it.

Indeed it's a simple process with WebHosting UK to register a domain for a newbie. As SysAdmin mentioned it is possible to register domain with any registrar. However I would recommend to register or transfer a domain to WebHosting UK if you are hosting with them. Their services on forums are too awesome so I believe that their hosting services would also be great!

Afraid WHUK is too expensive for me, especially the .co.uk tlds.

I use 123-reg and had no problems, but latelt started to use fast hosts.

Don't take it the wrong way guys but i prefer to have my domains held by a seperate company than that of my hosting company. i have been stung beofre where my hosting co controlled my domain. They went out of business and refused to comunicate with me. This cost me a lot of time and effort to get my domain moved.
Not that i am saying this will happen to WebHosting UK, I just prefer to work it this way.

You can register domains anywhere you wish. You are not restricted to WebHosting UK. And yes ofcourse it is your wish wherever you want to register a domain or host your websites. But I'm sure you will not find any hosting company as good as WebHosting UK!

Not heard much about them. If you could shed some more light on their prices and support that would be really nice

I really appreciate your honest opinion... but there's nothing special about their design almost all domain registrar provide 24/7/365 support.
Best domain registrar or hosting service provider should rated based on their quality of service, response time and ofcourse rates.

Strange. What difference would it make if a domain registrar isn't 24x7x365. One only needs to contact a registrar at the time of transferring a domain to a different one.

Can you please shed some light on this?

Are you talking about Domain Registrar or Hosting Provider?

As Harry has told, it is not necessary for you to contact domain registrar unless you want to transfer the domain or change the nameservers. However, if you are talking about a hosting company then yes it is very important for you to have 24/7/365 technical support available. If you need any technical support and the HelpDesk is offline then you might think of changing hosting provider the next day. Many companies provide 24/7/365 support "on paper" however WebHosting UK offers the well experienced support in practical.

Thanks to WebHosting UK team!
