Default Domain Transfer

Domain Transfer: .com / .net/ .org / .biz / .info - TLD Domains

To transfer a top level domain like .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info to Web Hosting .uk.com registry, clients would need to provide us the Authorization Key or EPP code which can be obtained from the current registrar. Clients would also need to ensure that the status of the domain is unlocked. Once we receive the Authorization Key/EPP Code, we can initiate a domain transfer request for the domain name from our end.

Once the transfer request is initiated, client will receive an authorization e-mail to the e-mail address provided in the "Administrative Contact Details" of the domain name. The domain transfer request needs to be accepted and approved by the client. If the transfer request has been accepted within time, the domain would take up to 7 days to get successfully transferred to the new registrar. Updating the nameservers prior to transfer will prevent any downtime during the transfer process.

Transfer of a domain may fail due to following reasons:

1. Administrative contact of the domain did not respond to verification e-mail
2. Domain is locked at current registrar.
3. Invalid/Incorrect Authorization Code
4. Domain is not 60 days old.

Domain is transferred with one year extension if the domain is due for renewal within the next 6 months.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Domain Transfer: UK TLD Domain names.

For transfer of .UK domains, clients would need to request the current registrar to change the IPS tag for the domain name and make them point to "WEBHOSTINGUK". Once the IPS tag is changed, we will initiate the transfer request from our end and get it transferred to our registry.

Domain is transferred with one year extension if the domain is due for renewal within the next 3 months.

Thanks Kate, this is a useful piece of information.

Just curious to know, how long does it take to transfer the domain under WHUK registry?

Default Domain

A domain transfer is nothing but to transfer domain name from the management under one registrar to another registrar. As a registrar is only responsible for the management of your domain records, this transfer should in no way affect your website, relevant email or DNS.
