Newb Q1 - Nameservers.
Sorry, folks, I'm off sooner than I thought I would be.
I want to set up a name server with our own domain name. I have the domain name and have asked the provider about registering it as a name server. They told me I had to configure it properly and make the domain name its own name server. I'm sure that makes so much sense to most of you but I am completely flummoxed. What does 'configure properly' mean? Where and how do I do that? They wouldn't help as I'm hosting elsewhere. They basically said - 'come back when you're all done and we'll register it'.
Help, please? I'm not stupid - just need pointing in the right direction.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
You will need to add A records of your nameservers on the server where you will be pointing those. Thats what they want you to do.
We could have done both things for you if your domain was registered with us.

Please contact our billing team and ask them to register your nameservers. I can take care of same if you PM the details to me.

As far as I know they have already done that for me, thanks anyway. I am slowly finding my feet now but am a little nervous still about actually putting a site on there and it working properly. I come from a shared hosting background and all this is quite scary. Lol

You are most welcome to contact our livechat support team anytime you get stuck with any technical problem. We love to help our customers and very few web hosting companies help customers to the extent we do.

And I know, from personal experience this week, that you are not kidding. Your guys have been fan-flippin-tastic. They have provided me with lots of help and more often than not, very quickly. I now have four sites up and running - moved from other servers and they've been an absolute boon.

You're welcome. I give credit where credit is due, Dan. I'd have been lost without the support department this week. Lol Where can I learn more about running my VPS? I feel terrible keep asking support about things. I've watched the tutorials but feel like I need to learn so much more than they show me. If you know of any sites, please let me know.
Thanks!

I'd suggest you to start one by one thread in our VPS forum. It would be helpful for you as well as our other forum members.

Hi James. Thanks for the reply.
I have read every single post in the VPS forum here but there isn't much to glean from so few posts. Of course I will keep up with the posts in there but wanted to read more about the services running on my VPS. I feel very resposible for the accounts of my VPS and just feel I need to learn more. No worries. I will take myself on a Google adventure and see what I turn up.
