Resolving foreign domain name issues?
Hello. I have just began to set up my own plumbing company in East Anglia, and am concerned about a few issues regarding domain names. I have done some research on the issue but I am still very uncertain.
The problem is that there is a website based in Latvia which I have found are using the same domain name but with a “.ru” tag. I am sure this is coincidental. However, the website links to a number of plumbing services in the UK, who I am in direct competition with which would be detrimental if my company were to expand nationally (since it appears in search engine results).
Since I am registered with Nominet (.co.uk), I am governed by their “DRS procedure”. But as far as I understand this only applies to domain name disputes with the .uk tag? So this is no use for a dispute with a foreign website?
As I understand, the UDRP only governs .com and .org etc so this would be no use!
How could I resolve the situation?
Any ideas would be appreciated!
Thanks, Karl
