Default Keyword research before buying domain

Before buying domain names I think a keyword research is important to get an idea about the popularly searched upon term, how you think aboout this?

I think keyword research is important if you are looking to get a domain with one of your site's important and relevant keyword in it. For a generic, short and brandable domain I don't think keyword research is necessary.

Wel, but it is practically difficult to find a short and brandable domain name, for example if I look for " pet" it has already been taken by some one means I have only one way to add keyphrases and research for best keyword to pick one of them.

Yea Paul its indeed quite difficult nowadays to get a short domain name of your choice as all of them have been taken away or if available they are very expensive and may be some are not worth getting in that amount but still if you get them consider yourself to be lucky. As far as keyword research is concerned it should be definitely done to be on target with the kind of visitors you are expecting which will eventually get you good traffic but getting a short and catchy domain name is always good atm.

Yes it is practically difficult to find a short and brandable domain name. Instead of wasting your time into it I would suggest to start your own RESEARCH, this is the most important part that many don't pay attention to it. Wether it is keyword, popularity, product, Research is the important factor. If you want to take advantage of your domain name then keyword research is must. It will give you not only a good domain name options but will also help you to decide on the top one. And while you are registering your domain, you will be ready with lots of keywords to work on.

http://goodkeywords.com/

Download this software. This is free and you can find UK keywords using "overture UK" engine in this software. Results that are shown in "overture UK" engine of goodkeywords software are 1/8th of what actually is searched in google.co.uk

I dont think that domain name matters that much to rank well in search engines. Offcourse it is necessary to find targetted keywords for your website but not so important. I think the most important part comes when you launch your website. I think the focus should be on the SEO efforts. The more backlinks you build more are your chances to rank well in SE. The domain name wheather it is a short or a long one doesn't doesnt matter much in search engine optimisation.

Well Paul, I was just trying to say that keyword in a domain name doesn't matter much to rank well in search engines. The concept of keyword in a domain name was followed few years back and not followed nowadays by major search engine like google. So I dont think domain name should be given much importance.

While searching for webhosting in UK using search term “ webhosting uk “ you'll notice that in addition to matching words in the brief description, Google will also highlight the portion of the domain name that matches too.

Picking the right domain name is the first step of the optimization process, though it’s tough time to get a popular keyword rich doaminname if you have budget you can have.
