Default How Much Traffic Are You Getting?

just wondering about how much traffic this site and other members sites are getting at the moment - I haven't set up a free domain name yet, but I'm wondering how my free webspace sites will compare with my own domain site.

My first free-webspace site that I set up about 1 year ago on a French webhost still gets about 500 unique hits per day and has had 156,000 unique hits in the last year although I don't bother updating that site anymore as I have others to concentrate on.

my most recent free-webspace site was going great - had 40,000 hits in the first 2 months but then slid off the search engines, disaster, as my target audience is from search engines really.

Is that visits or hits?
A hit is a download of a single file.

If your page has 10 images on it (banners, buttons, logos etc) and has 1 visit, that equates to 10 hits.

One of my forums gets 4000 IP visits per month which equals approx 900,000 hits.

I think, you are bit confussed between hit & visit.
IMO a Visit = A single visit, sometimes called a session, is when a visitor accesses the website and visits any number of pages within a specific time period, before leaving the site. This is the best metric for analyzing website traffic.
whereas Hit = When a file is accessed from the web server. A hit is any type of file - html page, image, etc.Number of hits is directly related to the number of media objects on a page, they are not accurately used to analyze website traffic.

So if you are talking about visits and as you said that your website has been slid off the search engines, firstly point out what were the mistakes for getting out of search engines, accordingly plan your updates.Get more high ranked backlinks and use all SEO techniques.
Make sure you are not in any type of black hat techniques fooling Google for better rank, this may be the reason you are not within search engine.
