Do Search Engines look at keywords in URL? Will google penalize for using keywords in URL ?

You will not get penalized for using keywords in url and the good thing is that the top SE's consider keywords in url.

Having an important keyword in the domain name does carry some weight in the site’s rankings in few important Search Engines like MSN and Yahoo. Google doesn't give that much importance to keywords in the domain nowadays as it used to before, but it’s definitely a plus having your main keyword in the domain rather than a simple keywordless domain.
