Will .com era end?

Do you think there will ever be a time when there will be no .com

Like, for example yahoo.com would then become yahoo with any .com, any extention for that matter. Do you think there will ever be a time like this? Do you think any domain name would make much sense in the future withou any extention?

Personally I think some great domain names can be made without any extentions. Domain names would then be four charactors shorter without any .coms, wether it be four charactors, two or three charactors oit would be shorter in any case.
